POSITIVE THINKING

Every action we take at the Sanctuary is to improve the lives of our rescues. The Board, supporters, donors, volunteers and our animal caregiver team are amazing. We power our energy by positive thinking, and #KindnessCompassionConnection

Our Shelter Manager Mike has long had a plan to return to live in NY where he grew up. It has been on the horizon but thankfully not a rush. To prepare for this, we have an innovative idea beginning in February!

Last year, our Board member Tyler Wehr approached us with the desire to join the Sanctuary team as the Shelter Manager. We are delighted to announce that he is stepping down from the Board this year, and will be on staff early February. Tye has a long background working with farmed animals, and has volunteered here for many years with his wife, Ann. Some of you remember that Tye spent a year getting Pal McTrouble comfortable interacting with people. Of course you also know Tye is an amazing chef presenting his spring and fall cooking classes for the Sanctuary.

This creates a unique opportunity for both the Sanctuary and Mike as he will become our pig-care specialist here before he returns to NY. His special focus will be those pigs needing extra health care. Another exciting thing Mike just began is the first online semester of veterinary technician coursework. We are pretty proud of him!

We do everything we can for each species and each individual here - it is important to our values to try our best for them!
