The Sanctuary is a place of kindness, compassion, and connection. I hope you will join us in our efforts. Working with a mission you believe in, you will do great things for others in need, and a beautiful thing for yourself as well.
The Sanctuary has core values that guide our mission and our daily actions.
Compassion - We treat the animals, each other, and the planet with kindness and consideration.
Respect - We listen with empathy for one another; valuing an individual’s dignity and feelings, while treating people and animals humanely
Community - We collaborate and build community through partnerships founded on integrity and trust.
Leadership - We lead by example by developing, promoting and sharing new ideas and programs to help animals, people and the planet.
Transformation - We judge our effectiveness by the extent to which animal lives are saved and improved, and by the positive experiences of the people whose lives we touch.
With these values, our mission was created.
The mission of Unity Farm Sanctuary is to provide a safe and loving lifelong home for farmed animals, to offer the public unique educational programs, and to promote a culture of kindness and connection. We support the entire New England community with numerous programs that are constantly expanding. Sanctuary virtual programs reach far beyond the region. Our goal is to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of animals, people and the world around us.
The very first rescues, when the Sanctuary formally began, were saved by working with Lawrence Animal Control and the MSPCA Nevins. You will recognize them as Marky, Billy and Napoleon goats. Working together saved their lives.
Beloved Dudley the Highland was saved by many compassionate people, united across many social and political divides. Their actions showed that we are stronger together than apart.
Our Volunteers are between 10 and 80, bringing us the energy of good acts making the world better. They are the ambassadors for the Sanctuary. We truly cannot advance our mission without their engagement and dedication.
Partnering with the Boston Outdoor Preschool Network in 2024 marks the beginning of a vital part of our efforts to have young people fall in love with the natural world. These children are inquisitive, fearless and joyous. (They love Hamish the Highland a LOT)
Building on our values and mission, we have our vision for the future. Unity Farm Sanctuary has been purposefully designed to grow long after the founders have passed. A growing endowment fund will provide some of the future financial support to the rescues and the work of the Sanctuary. in 2025, we are launching our partnership with supporters to include estate planning, so their impact here will carry on long into the future as well.
We will make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of animals, people and the world around us. To do this, we will become a recognized leader in sanctuary outreach services in New England then the United States. We can create a ‘platform’ approach that enables Unity Farm Sanctuary’s educational programs, values, and activities to spread to a global array of collaborators.
We can envision a world someday where animals won’t need to be rescued.
Let's get working!
